Contemplative Forest Walk

Beginning October 9 and continuing each Friday through the end of semester (weather permitting), Don Beith, assistant professor in the Department of Philosophy, will be leading contemplative forest walks on the university trails. Participants will gather at the trailhead near the New Balance Rec Center at noon for a 12:15 p.m. departure and a 1:15–1:30 p.m. return. Social distancing and mask-wearing guidelines will be in effect, with walks limited to 20 participants. For more information, contact donald.beith@maine.edu.

Annual Emergency Communications System Test

The University of Maine will conduct its annual emergency communications system test on Monday, Nov. 2, complete with three outdoor sirens sounding for several minutes. The sirens are part of UMaine’s multifaceted emergency communications system established in 2007 that allows university safety and communications professionals to use several mechanisms to quickly communicate vital information to the community during emergency situations.
