This is a unique opportunity for our community members to come experience what it is like to be a student in a classroom that uses active learning. Gain firsthand knowledge of how these strategies can help change the traditional classroom setting and make learning more accessible and engaging for students.
The strategies showcased will include:
- Collaborative group work
- Clickers
- Maine Learning Assistants (MLAs)
- And more!
Students who attend the event will get the chance to talk with faculty, staff, and MLAs about the MLA program and the benefits of being a part of it. For students who are interested in STEM or Education, this is a great opportunity to meet with people who will help them develop the skills they need to excel in those fields.
Active Learning in Action is presented by the Maine Center for Research in STEM Education (RiSE Center). The event is a part of Maine Impact Week, an annual showcase of UMaine’s impact on the state and beyond. It is hosted by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Dean of the Graduate School.
