University of Maine Cooperative Extension will offer a Small Ruminant Veterinary Skills workshop from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 14, at the UMaine Extension Somerset County office, 7 County Drive, Skowhegan.
This hands-on workshop is designed for farmers seeking to improve the health and productivity of their sheep or goat herds through better preventive care and early intervention. Participants will learn about disease preparedness, common small ruminant health concerns and vaccination protocols. Practical skills demonstrated will include taking vital signs, drawing blood, body condition scoring and administering vaccinations.
