On April 22, singer Robert Sylvain will bring Acadian music to campus. As the keeper of songs in his generation, Sylvain inherited his Mémère’s cherished notebook of old Acadian ballads, which he has painstakingly researched for their historical sources, found the original melodies, translated and arranged the songs to present to new audiences as proof that Acadian culture still lives in Maine.
There will be a dinner at 6 p.m., followed by a sing-along and jam session from 7–9 p.m.; bringing your own instruments is encouraged.
