Planning a Preserving Garden – Patten

April 16 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

| Free

University of Maine Cooperative Extension and the Veterans’ Memorial Library are offering a preservation garden planning workshop from 5:30-7 p.m. on April 16 at the library, 61 Shin Pond Road in Patten.

The workshop is designed for home gardeners interested in future food preservation activities. Participants will learn how to choose the best produce varieties for canning, how much to plant for their household size and an overview of preserving methods like canning and freezing. The workshop will be led by Extension experts in food preservation and horticulture.

There is no cost for the workshop, but pre-registration is preferred on the event webpage. Registered participants will receive a follow-up email with relevant resources. If you need a reasonable accommodation, please contact Julie Buhler at veteransmemoriallibrary2021@gmail.com or 207-528-2164. Receiving requests for accommodations at least 7 days before the program provides a reasonable amount of time to meet the request, however, all requests will be considered.
