Beginning Thursday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the Hauck Auditorium, the Maine Masque presents its annual student-run production, Montgomery v. The People of the United States, an interpretation of what Socrates’ life might have been like if he were alive in the 20th/21st centuries. Montgomery explores their life, starting first as a teenager in high school and then progressing into late adulthood, while having discussions on topics such as love, religion, and the role of philosophy in peoples’ lives. These conversations come from Plato’s Socratic dialogues and are updated to fit a contemporary context, including a discussion of racial justice in the United States.
