Casey Pinckney will be speaking in the colloquium for the Department of Mathematics and Statistics on Wednesday, April 6 at 3:15 p.m. in Barrows Hall, Hill Auditorium. Pinckney’s talk will be on “Independence Complexes of Finite Groups.” Understanding generating sets for finite groups has been explored previously via the generating graph of a group, where vertices are group elements and edges are given by pairs of group elements that generate the group. Pinckney generalize this idea by considering minimal generating sets for subgroups of finite groups. This event is free and open to the public.
