Maine Indie Music Showcase

April 15, 2023 @ 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm

The Collins Center for the Arts presents the Maine Indie Music Showcase, an event that highlights Maine-based indie-influenced artists such as GoldenOak, Gnocchi, Midnight Breakfast, and Rigometrics.

Golden Oak
GoldenOak’s music is rooted in the natural landscape — their songs move like a stream, meandering and weaving in an original yet grounding direction. Fronted by siblings Zak and Lena Kendall GoldenOak’s music calmly excites its listeners while nestled in rich folk-influenced sibling harmony. The Maine-based band has built a steady and growing fan base with this kind of energetic intimacy. This is perfectly represented in the group’s latest album “Room to Grow”— a 10-song reflection of the emotional and physical impacts of the climate crisis. The band is rounded out by upright bassist Mike Knowles and drummer Jackson Cromwell.

Gnocchi
Gnocchi is a rock band from Orono, Maine, featuring Austin Black on guitar, Benjamin Flanagan on bass and keys, Reggie Kollman on drums, and Ryan Conway on vocals. Their goal is to write and perform music all over the spectrum of rock. They are well known in the greater Bangor area for their high-energy shows.

Midnight Breakfast
Midnight Breakfast is an indie-soul sextet from Maine. Since forming during their sophomore year of college in 2019, the band has become a household name. Initially covering standards and funk tunes, the unit recorded its self-titled debut album Midnight Breakfast during quarantine and released it in January 2021. A showcase of instrumental improvisation and explorative long jams, Midnight Breakfast blends groovy melodies and blissfully jazz-kissed vocals to make each performance energizing, and ultimately unforgettable.

Rigometrics
Rigometrics is a young up-and-coming original rock and roll band out of Portland, Maine, formed in May 2021. Heavily influenced by classic rock bands, Rigometrics provides original raw high-energy rock and roll music. Lyrically they bring a message of inspiration, self-reflection and acceptance, and creating a positive change, all while packaging it in a joyous musical experience. Stylistically, they experiment with multiple genres of rock and expand your view of what modern rock can be.
