The UMaine campus community is invited to a seminar called “Learn How to Save a Life: Overdose response and naloxone training.” The seminar will provide information about the Community First Responder Program which is a two year grant funded collaboration with the University of Rhode Island. The goals of the Community First Responder Program are to educate communities about opioid misuse, and provide resources to communities to help address opioid misuse including the opioid overdose antidote naloxone (generic name for Narcan). The education and training consists of on-line modules that URI has revised to be Maine specific and will be housed on the UMaine extension website. As part of a site visit with the URI leaders of this project on April 7 there will be an in person seminar presented by Dr. Anita Jacobson from URI and the UMaine Community is invited to participate. The seminar is co-sponsored by UMaine Extension, UMaine School of Nursing and the Health Equity Alliance.
Refer to the attached flyer for information about the seminar and instructions for registration.
