Collins Center is inviting middle and high school students to come to see Jazz at Lincoln Center perform an abridged school concert at no cost. If you’re interested in bringing students, please fill out this online form and if you have questions, please email cca@maine.edu.
About the concert:
In this special concert, Jazz at Lincoln Center artists will showcase the uniquely democratic principles of jazz. A dynamic ensemble of up-and-coming jazz artists will illustrate the diverse origins and collective spirit that have made jazz America’s most significant artistic contribution.
Inspired by conversations between former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor and jazz musician Wynton Marsalis, these concerts explore a wide range of jazz topics through the lens of American history. Since 2013, Let Freedom Swing has reached over half a million people in over 3,000 concerts around the world.
We will provide a study guide with more information about the music and history that pertains to the concert. The concert will last for one hour.
Transportation must be provided by the school.
