The Research to Real World Commercialization Training Series is a great way to learn how to bring ideas to life (and do some professional development to include in your peer review file).

Join the Office of Innovation and Economic Development for a workshop on idea validation. Learn about the common roadblocks to the success of your innovation and how to overcome them. Find out about resources for you and your students to test your assumptions, improve your ideas, and make them real.

About the Research to Real World Commercialization Training Series
A free UMS virtual professional development program that will walk you through the process of delivering a product or service to the world and working with external partners.

Purpose
Educate Maine researchers (faculty, staff and grad students) about opportunities to solve real-world problems, and how they can get involved
Informational and intended as a first step for anyone curious about these topics
Earn a certificate of completion for professional development purposes
Upcoming Workshops (Fall Semester 2021)
Idea Validation
(Tools faculty and staff can use to test assumptions and validate if their solution aligns with real-world needs)
Regulatory Pathways for Medical Devices
(A thorough overview with resources for anyone pursuing innovation in this space)

Earn a Certificate of Completion
Participants can earn a completion certificate by attending all four core workshops and two electives.
