AMC: Climate and Carbon Friendly Forest Management — Field Tour

This is the final event for AMC’s 2022–23 webinar and field tour series.

REGISTRATION REQUIRED

AMC tour leaders David Publicover, Forest Ecologist and Senior Staff Scientist; Sarah Nelson, Director of Research; Steve Tatko, Director of Maine Conservation and Land Management; Carolyn Ziegra, Research Forester will lead a field tour focused on limate and carbon friendly management on late successional species, habitat restoration, snow load research and monitoring in the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Pleasant River Headwaters forestlands. The tour sites will include fish passage restoration project; ecological reserve in our silver maple flood plain forest; carbon project on the Silver Lake property; Wabanaki cultural use permits; PCT and sensor site; precommercial thinning; deer yard management and shelterwood systems. Carpool vans will leave Orono approximately 7:30 am and return approximately 5 pm.
