The UMaine Center on Aging is presenting the 2023 Older Adult Health and Wellness Fair on Tuesday, April 11 from 1–4 p.m. at the Buchanan Alumni House (160 College Avenue, Orono)! This three-hour, FREE event will bring together a wide array of exhibitors and participants to provide wellness opportunities and health information to older adults and caregivers in our community. Health screenings, education opportunities, and information about local volunteer groups are just some of the exciting booths older adults can expect to find at the fair. Refreshments will be served. This event is one of many happening during Maine Impact Week.
Exhibitors this year include the Schools of Nursing and Food and Agriculture, the Department of Psychology, the Conley Speech and Hearing Center, UMaine On-line and the Division of Lifelong Learning, and UMaine Campus Recreation, as well as the City of Bangor Livable Communities, Northern Light Acadia Hospital’s cognitive and mental health program, and the Eastern Area Agency on Aging. The UMaine Center on Aging will highlight its Tenacity: Portraits of Aging in Maine Multimedia Educational Showcase Project, the RSVP and Senior Companion Programs, and AgingME: the Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program. The Center will also provide on-site educational resources on ageism and how it impacts your life, health, longevity, and wellness as well as tips for recognizing ageism in yourself and others, responding to it effectively, and adjusting your behavior.
