Sustainability: Maine Greenhouse Best Practices Workshop

March 12 @ 9:00 am - 3:30 pm

| $30

Sustainability in greenhouse crop production has many facets. From finding new ways to diversify crops and markets, to managing pests effectively and ensuring worker safety, incorporating best practices into your greenhouse operation will help you achieve sustainability and profitability. If you are looking for ways to diversify your operation or just want to keep up to date with best practices in greenhouse production, this workshop is for you. Check in on your plant nutrition and pest management practices. Learn from other growers. Find out what’s new at the UM diagnostics laboratory. Clapp Greenhouses rely almost exclusively on biocontrol to manage pests. Clapp also has a MOFGA-certified organic section where students grow food for a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) enterprise and microgreens for use in campus dining halls. Learn how University of Maine’s Roger Clapp Greenhouses use sustainable practices to support research and hands-on learning opportunities for students, grow food, and cultivate a permanent collection of plants.
