Master Gardener Volunteers Training (Androscoggin and Sagadahoc Counties)
October 2, 2018 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
The program provides participants with at least 40 hours of in-depth training in the art and science of horticulture. Trainees receive current, research-based information from UMaine Extension educators and industry experts. In return, trained Master Gardeners volunteer their time and expertise for related activities in their communities.
Whiting Farm is a “working four-season farm dedicated to community enrichment, education and the support of people with disabilities.” Gleaning at Whiting Farm during the harvest season is scheduled as one of the hands-on activities for trainees.
The 16-week training starts March 27, continues Tuesday evenings through May 15, then takes a summer break, resuming Aug. 28–Oct. 2.
