1 p.m. Open House: The Honors Genomics Research Collaborative Laboratory
Join us for a tour of our new collaborative teaching lab and hear from faculty and student researchers about their cutting-edge work. Created with the generous support from the NIH, campus partners and private donors, this space provides extraordinary opportunities for mentored undergraduate research and laboratory training.

1.15 p.m. Ferland Engineering Education and Design Center — Sidewalk Tour
The E. James and Eileen P. Ferland Engineering Education and Design Center (FEEDC) is a multi-use academic and laboratory building destined to become the heart of undergraduate engineering education at the University of Maine. This three-story, 107,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility will help meet Maine’s engineering workforce needs and address increased enrollment demands for UMaine’s engineering programs.

1.50 p.m. Advanced Manufacturing Center Tour
The Advanced Manufacturing Center is an engineering support and service center that is dedicated to promoting economic development in Maine, and supporting the research programs at the University of Maine. The AMC is also readily accessible to businesses, entrepreneurs and researchers throughout Maine and North America.

2.15 p.m. Frontier Institute for Research in Sensor Technologies Tour
The Frontier Institute for Research in Sensor Technologies (FIRST) has an impressive array of instrumentation to synthesize and investigate materials properties at the atomic scale and up to macroscopic dimensions, as well as to fabricate and test a variety of micro/nano electronic devices and micro/nano systems.

2.50 p.m. Process Development Center Tour
The Process Development Center (PDC) offers a broad range of technical services and resources for our clients, both in traditional pulp and paper and in emerging process technologies and materials science. The PDC’s unique research capabilities and full scale pilot facility make it the natural choice for businesses and agencies that are seeking innovation and flexibility.

3 p.m. Meet the Dean of the College of Education and Human Development
Come meet new dean of the College of Education and Human Development Penny Bishop. Dr. Bishop joined the University of Maine in July 2021 from the University of Vermont, where she had been a faculty member in the College of Education and Social Services since 1998, including six years as associate dean. Her research focuses on the provision of responsive learning environments for young adolescents, and she specializes in middle-level teacher education. She co-directs the Middle Grades Institute, providing annual professional development to 200 educators.

3.45 p.m. Advanced Structures and Composites Center Tour
The University of Maine’s Advanced Structures and Composites Center is a world-leading, interdisciplinary center for research, education, and economic development encompassing material sciences, manufacturing, and the engineering of composites and structures. The Center is housed in a 100,000 ft2 ISO 17025-accredited testing laboratory with more than 260 full and part-time personnel. The registration deadline is Oct. 8.

6 p.m. All Maine Women Homecoming Reception
The All Maine Women Class of 2022 is looking forward to welcoming our alumni back to the University of Maine this Homecoming weekend. We will be hosting our Alumni Homecoming Reception on Friday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. in the McIntire Room of Buchanan Alumni House.
