Melissa D. Smith assumed the role of WEX Chief Executive Officer and a seat on the Board of Directors in January 2014. Prior to this, she served in many different capacities at WEX, including: President, President – The Americas, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President, Finance and Operations. She was the Chief Financial Officer in 2005 during the period when the company went public on the NYSE. Melissa started her career at Ernst & Young. In 2012, she was named 2013 “Woman of Distinction” by the Girl Scouts of Maine and was ranked by Mainebiz a “2012 Woman to Watch.” Melissa is active in her community currently serving on the board of the Center for Grieving Children. She also is cofounder of sheJAMS and the Women’s Executive Forum.
