Clark Observatory Dedication

Members of the UMaine community are invited to attend the dedication of the new Clark Observatory on Friday, Sept. 15, at 4 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

The historic Alvin Clark eight inch refractor, originally installed in 1900, has been relocated to the grounds of Emera Astronomy Center in a new roll-off roof facility.  This observatory will be used by university students and open to the general public following evening planetarium programs.

4 p.m.  Light refreshments served at Emera Astronomy Center
4:15 p.m.  Introduction of speakers by Shawn Laatsch, Director of EAC
4:20 p.m. Dr. Jeff Hecker , Provost, University of Maine; Dr. Emily Haddad, Dean, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; Dr. Jeffrey Mills, President , University of Maine Foundation; Dr. David Batuski, Professor, Department of Physics and Astronomy
4:45 p.m.  Ribbon Cutting; Adjournment
