Bangor Greendrinks Goes Blue
February 11 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm| $5
Greendrinks is heading to the University of Maine to get educated about many of the institution’s sustainability initiatives. The main host will be UMaine Dining. They are joined by the following organizations: Green Campus Initiative, UMaine Sustainability Office, Conferences and Institutes, the University of Maine Stein Society, Orono Brewing Company and Printing and Mailing Services. Come learn what they’ve been doing to “green” their operations.
There will be beer from Orono Brewing Company, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages to enjoy while catching up with all your favorite friends, new and old. UMaine Dining will be serving a range of snack options for you to enjoy, many of which will feature food grown locally.
Greendrinks is a free family-friendly event, so bring the kiddos. There is a suggested $5 donation, and we ask that you bring your own drinking vessel but there will be compostable cups available for $1, and custom vessels for $5. Proceeds from the event go toward helping Bangor Greendrinks provide grants to fund worthy projects that help make the Bangor region greener.
UMaine Dining manages three all-you-care-to-eat dining halls, six retail locations, and a catering division, all with a mission of nourishing minds and bodies one appetite at a time. UMaine Dining also values and supports local food producers. In 2019, the unit surpassed its goal of 20% local food and is committed to a goal of 25% local food by 2025. Sustainability is a university-wide initiative, which is why UMaine Dining has partnered with some special guests: UMaine Sustainability Office, Green Campus Initiative, and Printing and Mailing Services.
