3rd Annual Northern Maine Rural Living Day

A day-long agriculturally based educational event in celebration of rural living. Concurrent classes run throughout the day and include: Basics of Beekeeping; Backyard Maple Syrup; Planting Fall Perennials and Preparing your Gardens for Winter; Safe Pesticide Choices; Natural Herbs for Health; Introduction to Ruminant Nutrition; Non-Timber Forest Products; Grazing, Pasture Management and Hayfield Renovation; Cover Cropping for Soil Health; Fly Tying Basics; Homemade Apple Cider Vinegar; and Apple Tree Pruning and Orchard Management.
Youth and family experiences include “Berries to Bread,” Shake Your Own Cream, Making Refrigerator Pickles, Pasta from Scratch and many other hands-on activities. There will be livestock displays, herding demos, goat milking, hoof trimming, angora rabbit shearing and other skilled craft demonstrations throughout the day. A locally grown harvest lunch will be available.
Cost is $5/person or $20/family of four or more for the entire day (does not include lunch); children under 10 are free.
