Cross-Border Economic Integration in the Northeast: Current Status, Future Prospects
A staggering $1.4 billion in trade crosses the US-Canada border each day, more than any other cross-border trade in the world. Each year, Canadian tourists contribute an estimated $230 million to Maine’s economy, and 37,000 jobs in Maine depend on Canada-U.S. trade; 60 Canadian-owned companies in Maine employ 5,500 people. A two-day conference Cross-Border Economic Integration in the Northeast: Current Status, Future Prospects, will be held April 23-24th at Wells Conference Center, University of Maine, Orono, to discuss the region’s increasing trend in bilateral trade.
